The property

This charming old Faroese home built in 1854 is where the famous Rasmus Christoffer Effersøe was born. Rasmus was a Faroese agronomist, poet and politician. Effersøe studied in both Denmark and Sweden and subsequently worked as a farmer. He attended the Christmas meeting of 1888, which was the beginning of the Faroe Islands’ independence struggle. The name “Bóndans Stova” means The Farmers Living room, and the name is taken from a line in one of Rasmus’ songs.
